Living Arts and Science Center-Class Offerings

Dates: Nine week-long sessions begin June 4, 2012 and continue through August 10, 2012

  • Beginning June 4, 2012, nine week-long sessions of classes will offer creative fun in a wide range of artistic and scientific media.
  • Students may design their own partial and full day sessions by selecting from over 160 age specific classes in subjects such as filmmaking, cartooning, animation, robot building, architecture, photography, painting, dance music production, Chinese dance, digital art, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, bookbinding, fiber art, printmaking, and more.
  • All classes are unique and include topics such as “Build Your Own Dream Home”, “ArtGineers”, “Daring Domino Displays”, “ Magic or Science?”, “Art From Other Lands”, “Renaissance Kids: INVENT”, and “Shoe Sculpture Stories”.
  • Classes for children Kindergarten through 12th grade are offered from 8 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Students may select one or two classes or bring their lunch and stay the whole day!
  • Teen and adult classes are also available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and classes for pre-school students are available on weekday mornings.
  • Weekly classes range in price from $25.00 to $85.00. Join the LASC as an Individual or Family Member to receive a $10.00 discount on each class.
KAGE-Kentucky Association for Gifted Education
  • KAGE has again compiled a list of summer opportunities/camps in Kentucky that may be of interest to gifted students.  This compilation is just a sample of the many summer options available.

Winburn Middle School Site Based Decision Making Council Elections: School Year 2012-13

Elections for the 4 Parent positions will be held on the following dates:

  • May 1    - Orchestra Concert
  • May 10  - Band Concert
  • May 15  - Chorus Concert

Please be sure to stop by the PTSA table in the front lobby and read the biographies of the candidates and cast your vote for next years' council members.

World Fit is Here!
  • Winburn is once again competing in the national World Fit Competition, with the mission to eradicate childhood obesity and improve children’s health and attitude towards fitness.

  • World Fit® is a walking program for elementary and middle school students in grades 3 through 12 which includes teachers, family and friends. Olympians and Paralympians will adopt your schools to mentor and teach you the importance of lifelong fitness and the Olympic values of perseverance, respect, and fair play.

  • You can help our school out by becoming a World Fit Buddy and donating your miles to a student. Go to www.worldfit.org and register!
