The mission of Winburn Middle School, through a partnership of students, families, staff, and community, is to ensure that every student has the skills to build a strong social and academic foundation, in order to transition into a successful high school student and responsible member of the community. This mission is accomplished by providing a challenging, standards-based curriculum that meets the individual needs and is delivered in a safe environment by a dedicated nurturing staff.

Where: Winburn Middle School -Library

When: February 23, 2017

Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This is a semester long research project that our students complete in all three grade levels in the Winburn Gifted Acceleration Program (Centurion) and Advanced Team Program (Spartan).  This is a wonderful opportunity to see our school, meet the teachers, parents, and students.

Objective: Students will use a variety of tools (primary and secondary sources) to describe and explain historical events and conditions and to analyze the perspectives of different individuals and groups (gender, race, region, ethnic group, age, economic status, religion, political group). (SS-06, 07, 08-5.1.1)

Parent Learning Target: Parents will interact with students and the Winburn Social Studies department while exploring projects related to the theme “Taking a Stand.” In addition, parents will learn more about the topics students are discussing in class and ways to make further real world connections outside of the classroom.

Objetivo de Aprendizaje de Padres: Los padres interactuarán con los estudiantes y el Departamento de Estudios Sociales de Winburn mientras exploran proyectos relacionados con el tema "Tomando una posición". Además, los padres aprenderán más sobre los temas que los estudiantes discuten en clase y maneras de hacer conexiones fuera del aula.
